Hilsa Fish Recipe: Traditional Bengali Taste

Hilsa fish is an integral part of Bengali cuisine. Its unique taste and aroma keep the Bengali cooking tradition alive.   Its taste and smell are enough to make a feast.  Hilsa fish can be cooked in many ways.   Its taste and smell fried hilsa fish is special in Bengali home which everyone loves to eat.    Today we will talk about a simple recipe for making hilsa fish roast




Ingredients:


 * Hilsa fish: 4-5 pieces

 * Chopped Onion: 2 large

 *Ginger paste: 1 tablespoon

 *Garlic paste: 1 tablespoon

 *Green chillies: 4-5 (chopped)

 * Cumin powder: 1 tsp

 * Coriander powder: 1 tsp

 * Turmeric powder: 1/2 tsp

 *Salt: As per taste

 *Mustard oil: 1/2 cup

 * Dry Chillies: 2-3

 *Tomato: 1 (cut into small pieces)



Method of preparation:


 1.  Preparation of fish: First, wash the hilsa fish well and drain the water.  Apply little salt and turmeric and keep it for 10 minutes.

 2.  Heat oil: Heat mustard oil in a pan.  When the oil is hot, deep fry the fish in it.

 Prepare the masala for roasting: After frying in a wok, add dry chillies and green chillies to the oil and add chopped onion.  Add ginger and garlic paste when onion turns golden.  Grind all the spices well.

 4.  Grinding of spices: Now add cumin powder, coriander powder, and little turmeric powder.  When the spices are crushed, mix well with the tomatoes and cover for a while so that the tomatoes soften.

 5.  Add the fish: When the oil from the spices is released, gently fry the fried hilsa fish.  Mix the fish well with the spices.  Roast for a while.

 6.  Adding water: Cover and cook with little hot water.  When the soup is thick, continue to fry for a while.  Bhuna will be prepared with the special scent of hilsa and spices.

 7.  Serving: Once the hilsa fish roast is ready, take it down and serve it with hot rice.  It will be delicious to eat!

 Tips:

 To get the real taste of hilsa fish, it is better not to add too many spices.

 When frying hilsa fish, turn the fish very carefully so as not to break.
